Box 2 Update
So its been a while since Box 2 was mentioned! After a few months of been parked up, it was time for the renovation work to begin!
It seemed only fitting to name little box ...Earl, after all this was the name painted on each side of the box by the previous owners. Earl was used by a band named 'Earl and the Apple' to transport amps, speakers and instruments to & from gigs.
Little Earl spent many months with Richard Esam and his team, a great metalwork fabricators based in the midlands. Richard worked on Earl on & off between his larger commercial jobs. As Earl is an early 1960's box he did need a fair bit of work to the chassis. A new metal floor has been fitted with extra cross members welded in to strengthen things up. The side has been cut and the serving hatch installed with a stainless steel counter running the length of the box.
To keep things dry, the rear has had a new top hatch door fitted.
Inside, a counter has been installed along with shelving above. Lots of other little fiddly, time consuming bits have also been addressed.
Things has slowed a little on the conversion at present due to the busy christmas period for box 1 and now the cold, windy winter weather. Next up its painting time!!! unfortunately the crazy paint job won't be staying and will be more in keeping with his big brothers.
Fingers crossed, Earl will be ready to roll again by springtime!
You may have noticed Earl is very slim! Half the width of the original grey box. Compacted and perhaps hard to work inside...yes, But so cute, Earl is a little sausage dog you can't help falling in love with!
